Telehealth with Baptist Health

The world has embraced the shift to virtual care, but to those of us with the Baptist Health family, we’ve been on the telehealth journey long before 2020.We invest in these alternate and emerging technologies because it gives us the opportunity to treat a large variety of people and increase the access to healthcare. Serving these patients virtually is especially beneficial in more rural areas of Arkansas. By providing specialists in rural areas through telehealth programs, Baptist Health is able to elevate the level of care provided and the compliance of the patient. The amount of care we’re able to provide with telehealth is truly astounding. We offer a virtual ICU, where a team of virtual Pulmonologists, RNs, and Nurse Practitioners monitor your condition. We offer virtual nutritional counseling in all of its primary care clinics across the state. We even offer virtual translating services, so we’re able to help patients from all over the world. One branch of telehealth that we’re particular proud of is our lactation program. A lactation consultation with an RN IBCLC-certified lactation consultant from Baptist Health is available help new mothers overcome the barriers to successful breastfeeding by providing assistance with positioning and technique, recognizing the signs of effective feeding, assistance with breast-pump setup, and answers to common breastfeeding questions, all within the patient’s familiar environment. And if you can’t physically be by a patient’s bedside, our telehealth team has a path for you. We have developed the NICU Live Streaming system, which uses a camera placed at the baby’s bedside so that parents and other family members who can’t be at the NICU can view the baby 24 hours a day. This system helps promote bonding between parents and their premature babies, who sometimes have to stay in the hospital for weeks or months. When you’re with Baptist Health, we want you to feel as if you’re being treated spiritually and emotionally, as well as physically.A major health concern at the current time is COVID-19 (also known as coronavirus). Our healthcare teams are able to screen for the virus and make recommendations for next steps all within our state-of-the-art application. We are ready and able to meet your concerns for your life all through this emerging technology. The more people we’re able to help—no matter the location—is always a net positive for our community as a whole. Telehealth has proven to be an effective and important change for benefiting our community, and we will continue to deliver top-quality healthcare via every means possible.
