Nurses’ Week Spotlight: Honoring the Heroes of Baptist Health

Each year during National Nurses Week, Baptist Health takes time to recognize the incredible nurses who make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, families, and fellow healthcare professionals. Their dedication, compassion, and strength embody the heart of our mission to deliver quality, patient-centered care to every Arkansan. This week, and every week, we shine a spotlight on the real heroes of Baptist Health: our nurses.

Celebrating Our Nurses’ Stories

Behind every patient’s journey is a nurse who made a difference. This year, we were proud to share a few of the many powerful examples of excellence, compassion, and dedication from our nursing team.

An Angel in My Darkest Hour
When Kayla walked into the room, she brought with her a warm, kind, and loving presence. She made me feel safe and comforted—she truly showed compassion. Her heart was so pure, and in one of the most difficult moments of my life, she made sure I didn’t feel alone.
I still don’t know how I found the strength that night, but having a nurse like Kayla by my side helped me do something I never imagined I could. Kayla is an angel in human form—she’s amazing and absolutely in the right profession.

Faith Watched Over Me
Every Baptist employee my wife and I encountered was kind and helpful. But when I woke up in recovery, there was an angel beside me. Her name was Faith—and she truly lived up to it. She took incredible care of me, constantly checking in and showing genuine concern for how I was feeling. Faith didn’t just do her job—she stayed by my side for four hours, going above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and cared for.

A Gentle Heart in the Night
Kelsi was my mom’s night nurse. She arrived early and stayed late to make sure my mom was comfortable. She always spoke gently and treated her with the utmost kindness—even during difficult procedures. Kelsi always had a smile on her face, and you could tell she was passionate about her work. She would kneel by my mom’s bed and explain what she was doing, always apologizing if there was any discomfort. All the nurses were kind and compassionate, but Kelsi truly stood out.

These are just a few of the thousands of moments happening every day across our Baptist Health facilities in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Conway, Fort Smith, BHRI, and beyond.

More Than Just a Profession

Nursing at Baptist Health is more than a job—it’s a calling. Our nurses are leaders, educators, mentors, and advocates. Whether they are guiding a patient through recovery or comforting a grieving family, they bring both skill and heart to every moment.

During Nurses Week, we celebrated with special events, giveaways, and heartfelt recognition across our campuses. But more importantly, we renewed our year-round commitment to supporting our nurses—through professional development, mental health resources, educational assistance, and a culture that values every voice.

To Our Nurses: Thank You

As we look ahead to next year’s National Nurses Week, we want every nurse at Baptist Health to know: you are seen, valued, and deeply appreciated. You are the heart of our promise to care “For You. For Life.”—bringing compassion, strength, and dedication to every patient, every day. Your impact reaches far beyond the bedside, and we are honored to stand beside you in the work you do.

From all of us at Baptist Health: thank you for everything you do.
